Have you ever been in a situation where you knew how another was feeling, even though they did not express it in words? Have you ever felt a certain way but could not understand why you would feel that way? If you frequently experience these things, you may be an empath!

The word “empathy” comes from the Greek word empatheia. “Empathes” means passion, while “pathos” means feelings or emotions. So, “empathy” literally means a passion for feelings or emotions. To be empathetic is to be sensitive to the emotions of others. People who are very sensitive to the emotional states of others are known as empaths. This ability to detect the emotions of others is a form of psychic power.

We all have psychic abilities; however, most have not developed them. There are four main forms of psychic powers:
- Clairvoyance: The ability to have psychic visions.
- Clairaudience: The ability to hear voices from the spirit realm.
- Claircognizance: The ability to receive psychic information as insights.
The fourth form of psychic power is clairsentience. Those who are clairsentient experience psychic energy as feelings, and empaths are a form of clairsentience. While those who are telepathic can know what others are thinking, empaths know what others are feeling. While clairsentients may need to develop their ability, empaths can naturally use their abilities without training. Being born with these abilities comes at a cost for empaths.
Those who are clairsentience can turn on and off this ability; however, empaths cannot do so. As a result, the energy of others continuously bombards them. Further, empaths often have difficulty distinguishing between what they are feeling and the feelings of others.
For these reasons, learning to raise your vibration as an empath is very important. It will keep you more grounded, and you will be able to be more effective in protecting yourself from negative energy.
Practice to Raise Your Vibration as an Empath
Fortunately, learning to raise your vibration as an empath is not difficult. Further, it will allow you to gain control of your abilities. One of the most important ways of learning to raise your vibration as an empath is through the daily practice of grounding and psychic shielding. These practices will help relieve you from the emotions that you are experiencing.
When practicing grounding, you are reconnecting with the Earth’s energy. Grounding will also replenish your energy while dispersing any negative energy. Psychic shielding will protect your energy from the negative energies and intentions of others. The following is an example of a grounding and psychic shielding exercise:
Note: You may want to recite these steps to a voice recorder and then replay it when you are doing it.
- Get in a comfortable position, relax, and close your eyes.
- Take a deep breath, hold it, and then exhale slowly.
- Feel yourself becoming more relaxed.
- In your mind, imagine a ball of white light in the center of your chest.
As you visualize the ball of white light, breathe normally.
- See the ball of white light growing larger with each breath you take.
- Imagine the white light spreading across your upper body and head.
- Imagine the white light spreading across your lower body.
- See your entire body engulfed in the white light.
- This white light creates a protective grounding shield around you. Imagine that the white light is creating a protective bubble around you.
- Now imagine that the white light of your shield is becoming even brighter.
- See the bubble that surrounds you becoming brighter.
- Now imagine that white light becoming stronger. See, it becomes more solid.
- Your shield of white light is so solid that you cannot see through it.
- You are fully protected from any dark energy.
- Now that you can create your shield of white light, you will recreate your white light shield. When you recreate your shield, do it as quickly as you can.
- Now recreate your psychic or protective shield.
- Now, imagine that the energy from your shield is being sent into the earth. Feel the energy of your body flowing into the ground.
- As your energy flows into the ground, feel yourself becoming energized. You and the Earth are joined by your energy.
- Feel yourself becoming more and more grounded.
- Take a deep breath and hold it.
- Now exhale slowly
- Open your eyes and feel refreshed and peaceful.
When you have completed this exercise, record in your journal your experience. How did you feel after doing the exercise? The exercise takes practice, so repeat it daily. Each time you do this exercise, record your experiences in your journal. I especially recommend that you mention how the process went for you. Were you able to recreate your energy shield more easily than the day before? By practicing daily, you will reach the point of creating your protective shield within a moment’s notice.
